Synopsis
This is one of the movies about one of the most known korean folk tale, mixing love story and social classes conflict. Chunhyang is a provincial beauty for who a young noble man falls. He is the son of the local governor. They marry, but he must leave to Seoul, where is father has be promoted high magistrate by the royal court, and where himself must resume his studies and pass examinations to become a royal high administrator. Chunhyang can't follow him, because social status and norms. At her province she receives the advances of the new governor, a bad and cruel guy, who wants her among the courtesans. She refuses, and the new governor tortures and puts her in jail. Then the young noble man is done with his exams, gets a royal mission bringing him to the province. Undercover as a poor fallen nobleman, he gets around, her about Chunhyang, learn also about the corruption of local political, tax burdening of the poors, etc.
