- Synopsis
- The war of Northern Chaco between Bolivia and Paraguay (1932-1935) was the most important confrontation in South America during the twentieth century, and posibbly one of the events less analyzed. Two armies, more than 100,000 men each, spent three years in combat. The results were 90,000 casualties and the impoverishment of both countries. Argentinean cameraman Roque Funes filmed the first battle of this war, in Fort BoquerĂ³n, on Paraguayan soil next to the border. Back in Buenos Aires, he edited the material into a movie first released in 1932; a remarkable document of an almost forgotten war.
