Synopsis

Turkish woman Elif (Zühal Olcay) found no other way to get out of her marital hell than to kill her husband. Ironically, after a long, slow and painful period of acclimatization, the prison becomes her second home, in which she increasingly manages to break out of the cage of her patriarchal values. Step by step she fights for her independence, she becomes capable of egalitarian relationships and finds her way. But it remains to be seen if the path back really leads to freedom; Elif is threatened with deportation and further persecution by the Turkish judiciary.
