- Aj Ral Ch’och’: “Earth's sons”. This is how Q’eqchi’'s people call itself. For this Maya's people, Earth, water and forests represent much more than means of production and material reproduction. However, agribusiness plantations of sugar cane and African palm tree have invaded its territory, due mostly to the increasing worldwide demand of agrofuels. For this reason, a new period of stripping, colonization and resistance has started in Guatemala.
