Hitchcock no era el maestro del suspense. Porque el suspense está vinculado a la sucesión argumental.

Y Vértigo permanece.

Hitchcock no rodaba a actores actuando; creaba imágenes. Las de Vértigo poseen la fascinación latente de un cuadro en movimiento.

No son perfectas. No son bellas. Pero tienen magia.

Una vez el arte alcanza el mito, pasa a formar parte del espectador para siempre. Cuando alcanza el mito, no es necesario el suspense.
