Si a un buen guión le añadimos un ritmo coherente, una dirección atractiva y unas buenas interpretaciones nos sale siempre una película agradable. De corto metraje y con una puesta en escena algo teatral, Bill Condon refleja de maravilla los útlimos días del director James Whale, interpretado de forma magistral por Ian McKellen.
