La cautela con la que Van Sant se acerca a la historia de un regresado al origen (ese detalle del calzado de su abuelo), la sabiduría escénica con la que lo salvaguarda, el mimo con el que escruta en la verdad de los rostros de sus personajes abundan en que esa afable reivindicación sentimental sobre el respeto por la tierra que pisamos no tenga que pedir perdón por postularse. TIERRA PROMETIDA viene a ser una modesta fábula moral, esperanzadora y amable, en la que viene a refrendarse que no hay más paraíso que el hallazgo de esa posada con encanto que es la paz con uno mismo
