Romance. Comedy. Fantasy It’s the Depression and Cecilia works herself into the ground as a waitress in New Jersey while her husband does nothing. Her only outlet is the cinema, to which she returns time and again to escape from reality and dream of a world of champagne, tuxedoes and elegant parties. One evening, one of the actors in her favourite film, The Purple Rose of Cairo, notices her and comes out of the screen to meet her.
