Aunque abunden escenas grotescas, incluso crueles, algunas de mal gusto para paladares finos, es una obra llena de fuerza, de sarcasmo, de ironía y de humor. Mejora a "La gran bouffe" en cuanto que sale algunas veces del restaurante para entrar al lavabo de señoras y superarla en comicidad y atrevimiento.
