Vamos a ver señores, ¿de verdad es tan difícil de entender esta película? ¿Hasta el punto de compararla con el cine del maestro de lo estrambótico David Lynch?
¿De verdad importa tanto saber qué es lo que mueve a actuar así al personaje de Frank Langella? ¿Importa que sean extraterrestres, espíritus o el mismísimo Dios del rayo? Yo creo que nos estamos yendo por el camino equivocado, porque lo que el señor Richard Kelly pretende, es que nos demos de narices con lo que es capaz de hacer el ser humano por su propio beneficio, sin pensar en las consecuencias (continúo en SPOILER). Al igual que ocurría con la incomparable DONNIE DARKO, esto es cine para comerse un rato el coco durante y tras el visionado del film, no por ello absteniéndose de disfrutarlo -yo lo he hecho, y mucho-.
- Lo mejor: los tres protagonistas y la atrayente historia (todos mis sentidos estaban alerta para evitar perderme nada).
- Lo peor: quizás haya algunos momentos muertos (muy pocos), que restan tensión a la trama (aún así, es una película que no aburre y siempre va "in crescendo").

Para mí, la parte de ciencia- ficción (que la tiene, y mucha), sólo es un pretexto para lo que de verdad importa a la hora de entender el film. Siempre hay una elección posible, en este caso apretar un botón y llevarte un millón de dólares (cómo negarse) a expensas de la vida de un desconocido, o hacer uso del sentido común, no apretarlo y dejar que la vida siga su curso. Sabemos a lo largo del film, que lo que esa deidad -cuya procedencia desconocemos más allá del desfigurado rostro del señor Steward- espera, es que alguna de las parejas a las que se les plantea la posibilidad de hacerse ricos, vean más allá de su propio egoismo y se den cuenta que esa persona que no conocen y cuyo destino está en sus manos, también tiene una vida y una familia. Así, a través de los ojos de la pareja protagonista, seremos testigos de como esa facilidad y ligereza a la hora de tomar una decisión, se vuelve en su contra. Y sólo al final nos daremos cuenta de cómo la vida del último que se atrevió a pulsar el botón, se encuentra ahora en manos del siguiente que debe decidir si apretarlo o no... Y es que: ¿qué hubiera sucedido si la mujer del final hubiera rechazado tocar dicho botón? ¿Hubiera habido redención para el personaje de Cameron Diaz? ¿El niño hubiera recuperado la vista y el oído sin que su madre tuviera que morir? Lo cierto es que no llegamos a saberlo, puesto que es muy fácil pulsar un botoncito y llevarte un millón de dólares y por el que tiene que morir para tu engrosar tus arcas, que sufran sus familiares que son los que lo conocen y lo aman. Por tanto, yo me pregunto: ¿Y el término medio? La mayoría de las veces, ni nos lo planteamos.
