War. Action England in June 1944. Unseasonal storms. Allied troops are massed ready for the invasion of France, some already on the boats. The Normandy beaches will be their destination while paratroopers are dropped inland to take key towns and bridges. On the other side of the Channel the Germans still expect the invasion at Calais, and anyway the weather makes them think nothing is likely to be imminent. Eisenhower decides to go. Hitler sleeps on. [+]

Se trata de un gran film que, no obstante, carece un poco de realismo, a pesar de los esfuerzos por acercarse a los testimonios de los presentes. El desembarco parece impoluto, un tanto irreal (con un Robert Mitchum que se pasea por la playa como por el salón de su casa sin que una maldita bala le pase ni a un metro). A pesar de ello se trata de un film excepcional con un gran reparto: un John Wayne excepcional, un Henry Fonda fantástico.

Un buen film para ver tranquilamente durante una tarde de Sábado.
