Drama
Two young children are stranded in the Australian outback and are forced to cope on their own. They meet an Aborigine on "walkabout": a ritualistic separation from his tribe.

Walkabout narra la historia de supervivencia de una chica adolescente y su hermano pequeño por el desierto australiano. Un buen día su padre va con ellos de excursión en medio de la nada en el desierto australiano y se lía a tiros con ellos antes de suicidarse, pero ambos consiguen escapar y comienza su aventura de supervivencia.
-La introducción está hecha un poco a matacaballos y no sabemos porque el hombre se suicida y tal vez tampoco importe, pero es como un poco absurdo todo porque si su intención era matar también a sus hijos la jugada es un poco absurda. Ya desde el primer momento se ve una clara obsesión del director por los culos.
-La marcha por el desierto hasta el encuentro con el aborigen tal vez sea la parte más lógica y conseguida de la película, aunque tampoco tiene ni mucho drama ni mucha lucha por la supervivencia.
-A raíz del encuentro con el aborigen la película decae bastante. Imagino que para un espectador de los 70 era una delicia esa sucesión de tomas eróticas de culos tetas y árboles con forma de vagina pero en esta época actual ni es sugerente ni erótico porque además el estilo de las imágenes es burdo y nada sutil.
-La escena rollo Pajares y Esteso de los meteorólogos es incongruente por completo, de risa. Tal vez sea una mofa al comportamiento humano y una crítica, tal vez sea una manera de decir que el ser humano se comporta como un animal irracional cuando se trata de sexo, o tal vez es una crítica a los hombres que parece que estemos todos salidos (yo no soy así ni por asomo pero bueno). El caso es que no me descubre nada nuevo ni me casa con el supuesto relato de supervivencia.
-La supervivencia con el aborigen se basa en que este caza y ellos comen. Todas las escenas son de cacería salvaje a mamporros, bastante desagradables por cierto.
-Al final el aborigen los lleva a una casa abandonada para quedarse para siempre con la mujer y tener decenas de hijos. La adolescente le rechaza y este hace una especie de rito durante horas y al final aparece muerto (supongo que suicidó), tras haber fracasado en su intento. Supongo que es parte de la cultura aborigen pero es que esos planos en los que aparece bailando y haciendo gestos dan vergüenza ajena. Tal vez es otra manera de criticar al hombre blanco que coloniza terrenos, que caza sin necesitarlo y come sin tener hambre y que al final "mató" al aborigen, que eso es cierto históricamente.
-Finalmente los niños regresan sanos y salvos. FIN.
Trato de entender la película, su hilo conductor, su lenguaje visual (soy fotógrafo), etc, pero es que no me gusta y no me casa. Nicolas Roeg tiene un paisaje espectacular delante y no saca una fotografía que haga justicia al material que tiene delante, porque el paisaje es bello pero no la mayoría de sus planos. Sus movimientos de cámara son torpes y los zoom que hace muy toscos. Si, la película tiene muchos animalejos y escenas cotidianas suyas que hacen referencia a la vida y a la muerte pero es que en cualquier documental veo mejores imágenes y con más sentido, bien explicadas y con mejore planos de paisaje que me hagan comprender más la naturaleza de Australia. Por lo tanto, si no llega a la altura de un buen documental ni de una buena película, ¿debo de calificarla con una notaza para integrarme en la élite de los cinéfilos?. Para mí, e una película que tiene un sentido pero con imágenes aisladas que al final no hablan de nada en concreto porque no me aportan nada dramático a la historia de los personajes, me parece más un documental mal grabado e impreciso que en su día fue atrevido por sus escenas eróticas pero que ha envejecido muy mal. Así que de joya, NADA.
