Western. Drama
In Nevada in 1885, two worn out cowboys, Gil (Henry Fonda) and Art (Harry Morgan), ride into Darby’s Saloon and Hotel looking for a drink. Estupendo western sobre las consecuencias de tomarse la justicia por su mano. Se plantea una situación límite cuando un grupo de voluntarios sale en busca de los asesinos de un ganadero. Cuando capturan a tres hombres que no tienen coartadas sólidas deciden colgarlos.

Atención a la lectura de la carta de despedida del linchado mientras sus protagonistas la oyen compungidos. Toda una lección moral sobre la conciencia que es la base de las sociedades civilizadas.
Me pareció también muy interesante el personaje del hijo del oficial del ejército. Un afeminado que se siente atraído por Anthony Quinn y que se muestra partidario de su presunción de inocencia. Los intentos de su padre por hacerle un "hombre" forzándole a formar parte de los perseguidores, terminan en contra del progenitor que se ve obligado a suicidarse después de comprobarse que los ajusticiados eran inocentes.
