Drama During an attempted coup in 12th century Japan, one of the court's ladies in waiting disguises herself as the lord's wife to allow her to flee with the help of a loyal samurai. Película en color, realizada en 1953 por el director Kinugasa, dentro de los límites de la corrección. Pese a la presencia como protagonista femenina de la afamada Machiko Kyo, que intervino en "Rashomon" (Kurosawa, 1950), "Cuentos de la luna pálida de agosto" (Mizoguchi, 1953), "La casa de té de la luna de agosto" (Daniel Mann, 1956), "Las hierbas flotantes" (Ozu, 1959) y otras, la obra no pasa de discreta. Kinugasa no posee ni la grandeza de Kurosawa, ni la poética de Mizoguchi, ni la habilidad narrativa de Ozu.
