Once a year, the Peintresse wakes up and paints a number on the Monolith. A cursed number. All the people of that age suddenly go up in smoke, vanishing into thin air. Year after year, the number goes down and, with it, our ranks are wiped out. Tomorrow it will wake up and paint 33. And tomorrow we will leave on our last mission: to destroy the Peintresse so that it will never paint death again. We are Expedition 33.
