Synopsis
Footage from the 1910-1912 South Pole expedition led by the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen (1872-1928). Through this expedition, Amundsen won the honour of conquering the South Pole - after a race involving several other explorers. The UNESCO International Register Memory of the World is a compendium of documentary heritage of particularly great value to humanity as a whole. The register includes Roald Amundsen's film from the South Pole expedition.
