Synopsis

This special 50th anniversary one-off drama travels back in time to see how Doctor Who, the longest-running science fiction series ever, was created.
The year is 1963, and BBC Head of Drama has brought together a small group of people. Verity Lambert is a neophyte producer clashing with the old boys' club at the BBC. Waris Hussein is a British-Indian director struggling against racism. William Hartnell is a veteran actor fighting his own battle with years of typecasting and his deteriorating health. Against all odds, they found hope in the form of a tea-time drama about time travel and monsters, and will help forge a legacy worthy of eternity.
