- Synopsis
- Documentary about the frantic race to get hold of a lost painting by Caravaggio, a so-called "sleeper". The painting, entitled "Ecce Homo", hung for years in the living room of a Madrid family who, unaware that it was by the Italian genius and could be worth 300 million euros, put it up for auction in 2021 for 1,500 euros. After being recognized by experts and art dealers, an intense and crazy race was unleashed to try to acquire it, a battle in which an art dealer, who lives in Monaco, came to offer 20 million euros for a painting that he had only seen in Whatsapp photos. Finally someone whose identity is unknown acquired it, ceding its exhibition to the Prado Museum for a few months in 2024. It is unknown where it will finally be exhibited.
