- Wealthy Colonel Lee disapproves of marriage between his daughter, Annabel, and David Martin, a young village fisherman, but he agrees to the match if David goes away for a year and their love remains true. David survives on a desert island, finally hails a passing ship, and returns home to find Annabel waiting for him.
