Synopsis: An apartment dweller overhears a neighbor down the hall refer to him as a "poor miserable wretch". He complains to his wife about this, but she takes the neighbors side. While the man is willing to accept this assessment from his wife, he does not understand how it is that the neighbor could be in a position to make the same assessment. His wife explains.
