- Based on the epic poem 'The Iliad' by Homer, the film follows the assault on Troy by the united Greek forces and chronicles the fates of the men involved. The war started when young Trojan prince Paris (Orlando Bloom) seduces the Sparta's queen, Helen (Diane Kruger). The fortress city of Troy is attacked by a heavy Greek army led by Menelaus of Sparta and Agamemnon of Mycenae. In this Greek army Achilles (Brad Pitt) only join the war for his country, not for the kings revenge. He eventually fell in love with a cousin sister of Hector (Eric Bana), a great warrior and the only hope of Troy.

-
"Entertainingly epic eye candy."
-
"The movie is successful -- harsh, serious, and both exhilarating and tragic, the right tonal combination for Homer."
-
"When the film focuses on the Trojans, it's splendid. But when Troy attempts to sort out the competing agendas of the Greeks, it drags"
-
"For a movie whose characters are so preoccupied with immortality, Troy is curiously forgettable."
-
"This handsome and occasionally exciting movie flounders because it confuses Tinseltown glamour with legendary heroism and beauty"
