- Based on the short story ''One of the Missing'', by American writer Ambrose Bierce. France, December 1916. The Battle of Verdun is coming to an end. After a year of fighting in the trenches, the French manage to push the German army back to the north. A handful of soldiers are entrusted with the mission of finding out whether its retreat is final. The detection of their destination will hinge on the simple presence of a black cat. A reflection on the absurd destiny of war.
