- Widow Molly Dushane lives a life besotted with booze and centered around grand operas and soap operas on the TV. She's the matriarch of a seriously dysfunctional family, torn apart by Molly's earlier affair and pregnancy, and her husband's subsequent suicide. The child of her illicit romance, Micheline, works as a hooker and longs to escape their small, depressing town for the big city of Montreal. But Micheline's plans fall apart when her real father, and Molly's true love, dies -- and no one knows how to tell her mother the truth...
