- Synopsis
- 2 Episodes. Matthew Hiller (Rob Morrow), an American doctor from a Detroit working-class background, and Silvia Dalessandro (Matilda May), an Italian doctor whose father presides over an industrial empire, clearly come from opposite sides of the tracks. But when they both commit to Medecin Internationale, an organization that places doctors in areas where they are most crucially needed, social divisions do not stop the sparks from flying. Despite Silvia’s meddlesome father, this pair of star-crossed lovers face hazards at home and abroad.
Set in poverty-stricken, war-torn Africa, the plot thickens with an unexpected ambush in and a forbidding promise between Silvia and her father. Forced to marry a man whom she does not love, Silvia seals the fate of her and Matthew’s passionate romance. Only through another unforeseen tragedy are they united 16 years later.
