Tarkovsky mixes flash-backs, historical footage and original poetry to illustrate the reminiscences of a man about his childhood during World War II, adolescence, and a painful divorce in his family. The story interweaves reflections about Russian history and society. It is based on Tarkovsky’s childhood in the Soviet Union before, during and after World War II.

Para incondicionales del cine en estado puro, ese que no es fácil de ver, ese en el que el espectador tiene que hacer un ejercicio de comprension, pero en el que dejándose llevar se puede llegar a vivir la ilusión de lo que el cine debería de ser.
