El principio, ese ajusticiamiento de sospechosos de enemigos de estado (pueblerinos desgraciados), me ha descolocado porque no tiene que ver con lo que para mi, es la trama principal de la película...

...aunque por otro lado es más fácil de situar si se entiende como el leitmotiv de la película la arbitrariedad, el abuso de poder y la ocultación de la verdad como prácticas constantes por parte de los altos cargos del totalitarismo soviético hacia todos aquellos que consideraran necesario para perpetuarse en el poder (en ese sentido, viendo al psicópata de libro que está dominando Rusia no se puede decir que la cosa haya cambiado mucho), que como un seguimiento minucioso de los crímenes del maniaco Andrei Chikatilo, al que en la película se le cambia el nombre y resolución del caso respecto a lo que pasó en la realidad.
Está claro que el caso de este descuartizador de Rostov (leeros la biografía porque no tiene desperdicio, serviría de ejemplo inmejorable a los que defienden que al criminal lo forman las circunstancias, el medio) les sirve como vehículo, como una excusa para narrar las vicisitudes del sistema soviético, con la intención de orquestar un thriller político antes que uno de un asesino en serie (imagino que verían el caso en concreto demasiado cruento, crudo y escabroso como para escenificarlo para la audiencia, por lo que prefirieron abordarlo pasando muy de puntillas y ajusticiando al personaje con tal de no complicarse con el dantesco juicio que se llevó a cabo una vez lo capturaron). Aunque la película es entretenida, me ha decepcionado que no se haya respetado la etiología de esta abyecta historia criminal, admito que hubiera preferido una recreación fidedigna de los hechos, ya que el telefilme por excelencia sobre el caso, 'Citizen X', a mi juicio también se acobarda a la hora de profundizar en ciertos pormenores (aunque aprecié la obra en su dia, creo recordar que dije de ella que también me pareció un acercamiento algo superficial).
Al menos, escuchar a Pedro Molina doblando a Gary Oldman es una de las cosas por las que esta vida vale la pena.
Para el que le haya pasado algo parecido que a mi con este película, les recomiendo verse 'El monstruo de St. Pauli'. Garantizo que todas vuestras necesidades quedarán satisfechas.
