Después de cuarenta y tres años, es un buen ejemplo de cómo contar magníficamente una historia asfixiante protagonizada por personajes asfixiados, física (en una pequeña vivienda de la posguerra londinense, la misma en la que sucedieron realmente los hechos, poco antes de que la derruyeran) y moralmente (un psicópata, su mujer ignorante, unos inquilinos indefensos). Cine ya clásico, paradigma de suprema labor artesanal de planificación sin las "ventajas" de la cámara al hombro.
