Vladek se sienta. Toca el piano. No.
Sus dedos ni rozan las teclas.
En cambio las notas fluyen. Suaves, rápidas, claras, lentas...
El salón sigue acallado.
La música no se exterioriza. Suena dentro suya. En el pecho.
Lo han despojado de su dignidad, no de su sensibilidad.

¿Szpilman como lograste mantener tu arte en medio de tanta locura?

Sencillo. Nunca dejé de ser humano.

Y con emoción, rabia y lágrimas en los ojos siguió acariciando las teclas.
Pero la música no sonaba.
