Drama History of the Russian revolution through the eyes of Gorky, the writer and the man. He initially was sympathetic with some of Lenin's promises, but later became shocked with Lenin's bloody methods. Gorky emigrated to Western Europe. Crafty Stalin manipulated Gorky back into entrapment in Communist Russia. His quick death in 1936 is still a mystery. Documentary footage of Gorky from Russian and German film archives, helps the story.
