- Synopsis
- 'The Crown Jewels of Iran', commissioned and then banned by the shah’s cultural ministry, is a formally dazzling and politically provocative brief on its subject.
'Ganjineha-ye Gohar' has recently been restored by the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna and Ecran Noir Productions (Fereydoun Firouz), in collaboration with Ebrahim Golestan himself, with the support of Ehsan Khoshbakht, in the L'Immagine Ritrovata laboratory. The restoration was completed in May 2021 and had its world premiere in June at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
