- Synopsis
- A woman's husband died that summer. She is well off and lives in a villa with her servant. The two reminisce about their younger years. The woman's older brother died in the war. Many of her brother's friends wanted to marry her, but she was uninterested and chose a man fifteen years her senior who was a painter. She travels to Nagasaki with her dead husband's ashes now and also takes the opportunity to travel around Japan and visit many of her and brother's friends. She first visits a man who is a single clergyman.
