- Julian (Celso Ad. Castillo) is a peasant who is arrested on charges of trying to organize a labor union to combat the landowners in this historical drama set in the Philippines. When his new bride pleads for his release, she is raped by an oppressive friar who sides with the landowners. The son is also named Julian, and he is later hunted down when he dares to love the daughter of a wealthy Spaniard.
