Synopsis

In 1642, two years before the collapse of the Ming Dynasty, rebels have surrounded the city of Kaifeng. General Sun Chuanting has been released from prison by the emperor to help quash the rebellion, but arrives at the military base to find a flu-like disease devastating his forces. With a battle to fight, General Sun has no choice but to call on the controversial doctor Wu Youke and gamble on his radical theory about how the disease is spread.
