- Synopsis
- Hallam's mother has drowned and now another woman has taken her place. Her name is Verity, she is beautiful, exciting, and his stepmother and probably the one who killed former Mrs Foe. At least, that is what Hallam thinks, moreover, he is willing to prove it, so he takes to spying on her from behind his binoculars. And the more convinced Hallam is of Verity's wickedness, the more attracted he is to her. To escape that feeling, he moves to Edinburgh and meets a girl who works in a hotel and bears a striking resemblance to his dead mother. Hallam takes his binoculars again and watches over his new object of desire from a roof.
