Synopsis
Documentary about the feat of French tightrope walker Philippe Petit who, on August 7, 1974, illegally managed to walk on a wire stretched between the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York. Petit spent eight months in Manhattan planning the execution of his feat. Aided by a team of friends and accomplices, he faced numerous extraordinary challenges: he had to find a way to circumvent WTC security; smuggle in the heavy steel cable, anchor it and tension it to withstand the winds and the swaying of the buildings. The assembly was carried out at night in absolute secrecy. After the feat was completed, he was arrested by the police, but the exhibition was considered by some to be "the artistic crime of the century".
