- Synopsis
- The filmmaker and theorist Pfaffenbichler creates an exquisite corpse from the filmography of Boris Karloff, the horror film star par excellence, that not only looks at his work with great directors (Ford, Hawks, Sirk, Bogdanovich or Whale), but also at his B horror films and cheap television programmes. An elusive tale structured in chapters (really always the same one, but changing) in which Karloff dialogues with himself in a montage with impeccable continuity editing, with registers that range from mystery to action and to a hallucinogenic trip, among others. A tragi-comedy with a sharp sense of humour in which Karloff confronts the hundreds of versions of his persona with different masks, ages, colours and formats. According to its director, “a tribute to a great actor, but also a strange lesson in cinema history”.
