- Saint Rose of Lima, who died in the Peruvian capital that gave her her name, was barely 31 years old when she died in 1617. The film by José María Elorrieta that made María Mahor famous tells the life of this young woman, daughter of Gaspar Flores, a Spanish arquebusier in the service of King Philip III, and María de Oliva, who would become the main patron saint of the New World, the Philippines and the West Indies in 1670.
