Media Author Review
United States
Variety
"[A] frantic, flimsy moviemaking meta-farce (...) Performances occupy one of two registers: shrill or zany. Aesthetics are mostly forgettable. And there's a lack of rigor to how the film is assembled"
United States
The Wrap
"An exercise in flair but not much more"
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"An entertainingly affectionate ode to film-makers and film-making (...) A delightfully silly portrait of the filmmaking process"
United States
IGN
"Beneath the slapstick comedy and engaging central performances, 'Cobweb' suffers from an imbalance of style over substance that draws attention away from anything more serious it might have been trying to say"
United States
The Film Stage
"'Cobweb' has a softer heart, and fixates on sloppier ensemble staging and to-the-hilt acting performances to the detriment of Kim’s considerable skills with the camera"
United States
Deadline
"Good performances, haunting atmospheric tone and a conclusion that unravels it all"
United States
Collider
"It's far from perfect, but the production design of the film and the strong backbone of actors make 'Cobweb' an entertaining film, though not a must-see"
Hong Kong
South China Morning Post
"Far too indulgent, the lengthy 135-minute running time is not merited; a much crisper, leaner story would have served the humour far better (...) Rating: ★★ (out of 5)"
United States
rogerebert.com
"There’s a slack nature to the film that almost feels like it has to be an intentional experiment from a filmmaker who has been so precise and intricate with his work in the past (...) Rating: ★★ (out of 4)"
