Canada

"A detective movie so pulpy that it will make you choke"
Canada
JoBlo
"With Jordan at the helm, the Monahan screenplay, the cast and the visuals, this is a surprisingly excellent modern noir that I really enjoyed"
Canada
The Gate
"Unsatisfying and never coming fully to life, there's no mystery as to why Marlowe doesn't work. All the evidence is right in front of the viewer's face to see"
United States
Collider
"[It] has an excellent cast, but the mystery at the center of this Raymond Chandler-based story isn't up to snuff"
United States
San Francisco Chronicle
"With the exception of Jessica Lange, who tears into her fairly brief role as a wealthy and wicked former movie star, everyone in 'Marlowe' is directed as if to seem groggy with depression (...) Rating: ★ (out of 4)"

Deadline
"It's fun and it's fast (...) Casting is inspired across the board (...) You might as well enjoy it"

"But for all the authentic genre tropes on display, Marlowe never comes to life on its own, lacking the verve or wit to make it feel anything other than a great pop song played by a mediocre cover band"
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"Short on both charm and Chandlerian complexity, this version coasts on Liam Neeson's lead, and some spicy character playing from the likes of Danny Huston, Alan Cumming and Jessica Lange"
United States
Slant
"The film is so riddled with noir clichés that one may initially take it for a genre parody (...) Rating: ★ (out of 4)"

"This movie made by people with nothing to prove and nothing to lose has a lot less strain and far more entertainment value"
United States

"[It] isn’t the catastrophe that others may make it out to be, but it’s instead just inert, forgettable immediately after the credits roll"
United States
