Media Author Review
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"[It] doesn’t fully succeed in any department. But it does provide some alternately amusing and touching moments"
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"This gentle comedy has some touching moments between Crystal and Tiffany Haddish (...) but 'Here Today' ultimately proves too saccharine and manipulative"
United States
New York Post
"Movies are allowed to be more than one thing (...) but all those qualities must harmonize. 'Here Today' is a mess (…) Rating: ★★ (out of 4)"
United States
Variety
"'Here Today,' as good as some of it is, is a watchable movie with a soft center. But it makes you very glad to see Billy Crystal take center stage again."
United States
Los Angeles Times
"For a film that seeks to be so humanist, there’s only one truly human character in it. As likable as he is, that oversight is impossible to ignore."
United States
IndieWire
"It’s hard to embrace a canned 'live in the moment and laugh as it goes by' ethos in a movie where even death becomes impossible to take seriously."
United States
ABC News
"The pairing of Crystal and Haddish kicks off with such cross-generational comic snap that 'Here Today' looks ready to provide just the laughs we need for our pandemic blues. And for a while, before a downer subplot torpedoes the ha-ha, it does"
United States
The Wrap
"'Here Today' tries hard to be warm and witty and ultimately devastating and poignant, but it remains firmly in the mushy middle of sitcom sentiment"
United States
Common Sense Media
"The balance between comedy, heart, and head is excellent. It's the hand that's too heavy (...) [The creators] cram a little too much in to 'Here Today'."
United States
AV Club
"'Here Today’s sincerity is matched only by its phoniness. The same was true of Crystal’s 1992 directorial debut, 'Mr. Saturday Night', so at least one can say he hasn’t lost a step."
United States
Screen Crush
"[All the sketches] sound like they written by the same person — and they’re all utterly devoid of laughs (...) [It] is too peculiar and heartfelt to be truly bad"
