Mumu is the simple and sad story of an old tyrannical landowner’s wife and Gerasim, a deaf and dumb peasant brought from the countryside as caretaker in her property. Gerasim only friend is a dog he rescued from the river and named Mumu. A beautiful description of pre-revolutionary landowners in Russia.
