The Shop Around the Corner

Romance. Comedy Alfred Kralik is the timid headclerk at a Budapest shop named Matuschek and Company. Each morning, the employees wait together for the arrival of their boss, Hugo Matuschek. Following an ad in the newspaper, Alfred has started to exchange letters with a lady friend. Against Alfred's wishes, Matuschek hires Klara Novak. The two quarrel constantly at work, not suspecting that Klara is Alfred's secret correspondent.
