"After a potent start (...) [it] becomes less credible as it develops and ultimately suffers from some fundamental creative missteps that leave it unconvincing in the final stretch."  NEU

"There’s enough good, though, especially in Jordan’s performance, to recommend 'Fahrenheit 451', but it’s not the slam-dunk you’d expect of a prestigious adaptation of a great American novel."  NEU

"[It] extinguishes what made the book great (...) This 'Fahrenheit 451' too often feels like an emojified version of its source material (...) Spend the time with a good book instead."  NEG

"[It] is distinctive, so on-message from one moment to the next, and so scary in both its depictions and implications, that there are times where it feels as if it’s intellectually brutalizing the audience (...) to get them to wake up from a stupor."  POS

"As a story, it holds together well enough, if a bit too neatly (...) There’s a lack of urgency to the film because it fits so snugly into generic expectations."  NEU

"Its setting – an authoritarian state where books are illegal – feels rather less compelling in an age when information can be widely disseminated at the swipe of a thumb (…) Rating: ★★ (out of 5)"  NEG

"It works (...) In an era where inconvenient truths are branded as fake, any take on Bradbury’s cautionary tale can’t help but be resonant, and worth seeing."  POS

"A decent stab at an update of Bradbury’s 1953 novel for the social media age. What’s lacking is the jazzy poetry of the original."  NEU

"[It] is a challenging watch in all the right ways and just a couple of the wrong ones (...) The depth helps texture everything that is present and brings Ray Bradbury’s world to life before your eyes."  POS
