Platform games, or simply platformers, are a genre of video games that are characterized by having to walk, run, jump or climb on a series of platforms and cliffs, with enemies, while collecting objects to complete the game. Among its many examples, there are sagas such as Mario Bros, Sonic or Crash Bandicoot and they can be in 2D or 3D, free movement or side scrolling. The 'Cinematic platformers', more focused on environmental narrative and puzzle solving, are not included in the topic, nor are 'Metroidvanias', as they are a combination of many other elements.
