Anime subgenre in which characters are transported, reincarnated, or trapped in a parallel world, usually fantasy or science fiction. The protagonists often acquire new abilities or powers in this alternate world, where they face challenges and adventures that would not exist in their original reality. Although there are Western works with these characteristics (e.g. Alice in Wonderland) this topic is exclusively for anime.
