Subgenre of action video games, also known as 'me against the neighborhood', characterized by putting characters against groups of enemies in phases that generally scroll sideways, using simple combos and special attacks. It had its boom between the late 80s and the 90s, with iconic sagas such as Double Dragon, Final Fight or Streets of Rage among others. Similar but for the use of weapons, there is the 'Hack and Slash' subgenre, more popular in the jump to 3D.
