On a remote island, Isla Damas, the United States government has set up a secret laboratory. There, Dr. Henry Richardson and his daughter Susan have been experimenting with a newly created radioactive isotope, developed by the doctor. Initially, the isotope was being used to develop giant plants and grains to help battle world hunger, but the government had other ideas…and plans for military adaptation of the isotopes genetic altering powers. A Komodo Dragon and King Cobra are bombarded with the isotope which causes them to mutate into giant versions of their former selves. They become carnivorous beasts that wipe out the entire laboratory team on the island, except for Melissa, who escapes into the jungle. Meanwhile, on another part of the island, a landing party has just arrived.The activists know that experimentation with genetics is being conducted on the island and aim to make the governmental experiments public.When the team stumbles upon the laboratory, they find it deserted except for Susan, who is hiding out there. They begin to investigate the area further but their inspection is abruptly interrupted by a bloodcurdling scream. The group gathers to witness the group’s cameraman being attacked and devoured by a giant King Cobra. The creature barely reacts to their gunfire in an attempt to save the man and slithers off into the jungle.What no one realizes though is that the U.S. government knows things have gone awry on the island and plans to bomb the whole place out of existence. The group must escape the island. That is easier said than done, as they find their vessel destroyed by the government when they reach the shore because no witnesses can be allowed to leave and tell of the creatures on the island. With matters going from bad to worse, it is a desperate quest for survival for the remaining members of the group as they move toward the high ground and the Komodo and Cobra fight for the right to hunt the last humans on the island
