About this movie

Tomoya, an incompetent but well-meaning staffer at a TV production company, discovers that his college friend Aoi Sato died in a plane crash in the United States. As he struggles to deal with the devastation, he cannot help but think of their past together, from their first meeting to their final farewell.

Since I like slice of life manga I feel like this is a very good story about a romance that never happened. It has tragic elements but it is not melodramatic. It kind of fits the gentle sorrow found in stories like Moonlight Shadow by Banana Yoshimoto. I also, like the way the timeline jumps were used to show the growing love that neither protagonist would bravely take on. The college project movie within a movie kind of modeled the real life drama itself. I' glad I watched this.
