About this movie

Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) delivers a superstar performance in this powerful story based on real events. Amid the wreckage of Hurricane Katrina, one coach attempts the impossible: create a winning basketball team using players from five of the hardest-hit high schools in the area. Featuring Isaiah Washington (Grey's Anatomy), Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Shad Moss aka Bow Wow (Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift), rap megastar Lil Wayne, and Bonnie Hunt (Cheaper by the Dozen films), Hurricane Season takes an honest look at disaster and shows how heroes can rise from the most devastating of circumstances.

Wow, was not expecting this. The acting of Forest Whitaker is amazing, and he really takes the lead in drawing you into the movie, even from his first monologue in the opening of the movie! The cast of unknowns mixed in with the ecletic Lil' Wayne and Shad Moss add a little draw of comfort. Overall the movie was acted well played well, and is sits up there with movies such as We Are Marshall, Remember the Titans, and the Blindside!

Moving, happy, sad, brave, scared, win, lose, we choose, because this is a brilliant metaphor for what it took the heinously treated people of New Orleans not only to survive but to thrive and revitalize and show us all what it means to suffer and still come out on top. Bravo! Bravo to the writing, the directing, and the brilliant acting. Forrest Whitaker is greatness, itself! MUST SEE!
