About this movie

Family tells the story of 11-year-old Maddie (Bryn Vale), a social misfit who practices karate moves with trees. Her self-absorbed, childless aunt, Kate (Taylor Schilling), offers to take care of her for a week while Maddie's parents are busy, and it proves to be the most transformative week of young Maddie's life.

This movie was actually pretty good. I typically don't like movies of this sort but i do not regret giving it a watch. solid performances, the child acting was good, and it had some funny moments.

I enjoyed this as a sweet, awkward, funny movie about belonging. Taylor Schilling's comedic talents shine here, along with the young actress who plays her niece. The roles are not overplayed, but allow the awkwardness of difficult lives play out without overacting.

Great movie for the awkward and weird. I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I did not like the encouragement of "gangs" as family.
